Wifi - Free Internet Access

All users of the International Conference Center of Geneva will have wireless free internet access, with no time limit or need for subscription.

In order to offer this service, the CICG has installed a high-speed line for what is generally known as the WIFI system, a 802.11b and 802.11g norm allowing use of wireless technology thanks to radio waves of up to 54 mbps of transfer speed and 2.4 GHz in frequency.

Anyone attending a conference needs only to have a personal portable computer with a navigator programm (Internet, Explorer, Netscape), equipped with a special card (PCMCIA – Wireless Card), and to programme it according to the standard which gives access without a password to the WIFI system and to Internet. This can be done from any conference room in the Centre. Network configuration: automatic connexion and address log-in set-up IP DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).

To guarantee the flow from all essential access points, a number of aerials have been installed on the roof of the CICG allowing anyone in the building to access the internet without having to use a connecting cable.
