CICG Member of 2050Today

The CICG is an active member of the 2050Today programme.

Launched in partnership with the United Nations, it brings together a community of institutions and stakeholders from International Geneva committed to achieving a rapid, continuous and measurable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions within their own organisations.

Guided by principles of solidarity and cooperation, members implement effective measures to significantly reduce their CO₂ emissions.

Each member is committed to reaching the goal of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Committed to the ECO-21 Program

The CICG is committed to the ECO-21 programme by SIG through a partnership aimed at reducing its energy consumption. This programme, called Negawatt Vision, is designed for “large consumers”, a category that includes the FIPOI due to its extensive building portfolio.

Negawatt Vision supports the CICG in implementing a coherent energy policy through personalised monitoring, guidance in establishing an energy management system, and the provision of subsidies to carry out energy performance initiatives.

Environmental Charter

The CICG is actively committed to sustainable development through a responsible approach and concrete actions aimed at reducing its environmental impact. Our environmental charter reflects this commitment by incorporating principles that focus on optimising energy consumption, minimising waste and promoting environmentally friendly practices.

We prioritise the use of renewable energy sources, such as solar panels, and have implemented smart energy management systems, including motion sensors and optimised ventilation systems to reduce our consumption. Our sustainable mobility policy encourages the use of public transport and collaboration with service providers using electric or hybrid vehicles.

Across our facilities, we apply strict resource management by promoting waste sorting, the use of recyclable and sustainable materials, and solutions that reduce water usage. Our catering services are also aligned with these values, featuring a restaurant certified ISO 14001 and Fourchette Verte, ensuring the use of local, seasonal and short-supply-chain products.

Through this approach, we aim to offer a responsible and eco-conscious environment to our clients and partners. Discover our environmental charter and join us in creating more sustainable events.

We use the sustainable GeniLac cooling and heating system, which harnesses energy from the lake. This innovative process allows us to significantly reduce our CO₂ emissions while optimising thermal comfort throughout our facilities.
Our centre is committed to clean energy through the installation of photovoltaic panels on our rooftops. These panels enable us to produce a significant portion of our electricity, thereby reducing our carbon footprint while promoting the use of renewable energy sources.
Our rooms are equipped with counting cameras that allow ventilation to be adjusted based on actual occupancy. This smart system ensures optimal air quality by automatically regulating CO₂ levels, while also reducing energy consumption related to air renewal. Thanks to this technology, we enhance user comfort while minimising our carbon footprint fully in line with our commitment to more sustainable event management.
We have upgraded the lighting in most of our spaces with energy-efficient LED bulbs. This initiative helps reduce our energy footprint while providing optimal lighting comfort for our visitors.
In support of local biodiversity, we have installed beehives on our rooftops. These bees play a crucial role in pollination and help raise awareness amongst our visitors about the importance of protecting our ecosystem. As a bonus, they produce delicious honey, a testament to their thriving activity!
To simplify recycling and encourage responsible behaviour, we have implemented sorting bins throughout the centre. Every action counts in reducing our environmental impact, and we are proud to promote eco-friendly waste management practices.
Our cups, made from polylactic acid (PLA), are 100% biodegradable and derived from plant-based resources. This is a responsible alternative to traditional plastics, in line with our commitment to reducing non-recyclable waste.
Our toilet paper is made from recycled fibres and meets the highest ecological standards. A small detail that makes a big difference in reducing our consumption of natural resources.
